Health and Safety Policy
Excel Maids has a Health and Safety Policy and all staff have a duty of care of their own safety, that of colleagues and anybody using Excel Maids services.
Every employer shall ensure, so far as is reasonable practicable, your health, safety and welfare at work and you are protected by law under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 which details both employers and employees responsabilities.
This is the Health and Safety Policy Statement of "Excel Maids Cleaning Services":
* Senior staff together with appointed Health and Safety Rep must provide adequate training and instruction in relation with risks arising from work activities.
* Senior staff must consult with our employees an matters that could affect their health and safety.
* Senior staff must provide full COSHH training to all our personnel and ensure that all our operatives understand safe handling and use of cleaning substances.
* Senior staff has a responsability of providing protective clothing free of charge to all our employees.
* Senior staff must ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks and to give them adequate training and supervision.
* Work sites should be formally checked for physical dangers, including kitchens and toiltes as well as main work area.
* Staff working with IT should know that excessive use may be dangerous to their arms, sight and reproductive organs.Staff should not use a computer for more than fifty minutes without taking ten minutes away from their desk.
* Staff working alone should be aware that they are allowed to lock doors and to refuse access to anybody they do not recognize.
* When going to a new client, all operatives should report to the office about their welll-being after 10-15 minutes from getting to the new premises.
* Staff working off site should wear Excel Maids clothing provided free of charge by the agency.
* All staff should know at least two escape routes from their work sites.
*All work sites should have clear escape routes and they should be unobstructed.
* All work sites should have access to first aid equipment.
* All operatives must co-operate with senior staff and Health and Safety Rep and report whenever working conditions are changed.
* All operatives must avoid manual handling operations that could be hazarduos to their health or others around them.
* All staff must correctly use work items in accordance with training and instructions.
The Excel Maids Health and safety Rep must ensure that overall reviews are carried at least annually , and whenever an event involiving more than fifty people is organized, and whenever working conditions are significantly changed e.g. taking on new premises.
Excel Maids complies with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and all our personnel is provided with suitable information, instruction and training about:
* the nature of the substances they work with or are exposed to
* the risks created by exposure to those substances
* the precautions they should take
The "in-house" training Excel Maids provides, gives to all our staff sufficient information and instruction on:
* the use of any personal protective equipement
* results of any exposure monitoring or health surveillance
We have put in place a Generic Risk Assessment and all our staff is aware of Health and Safety regulations to ensure all work is carried out without taking any unnecessary risks.
We also carry Public Liability Insurance for severe loss or damage done by the cleaner.Our insurance also covers for Employer's Liability.
